Tuzer Dance School General Policies
School General Policies
All students enrolled at the Tuzer Dance School should be able to enjoy the art of dance in a positive, healthy and distraction-free environment. Our faculty and staff do their best to promote respectful behavior from all students in the classroom. Please observe the school policies to ensure that each student gets the most out of their time at TDS. Do not hesitate to contact the TDS office if you have any questions about school policies.
REGISTRATION / TUITION
A $40 registration fee, due at time of registration, will be charged per student. This fee holds your place in the class and is non-refundable. A maximum of $75 will be charged per family. Upon registration a parent must fill out a Registration Form and sign liability release forms and agree with all Tuzer Dance School policies and regulations.
Tuition is due at the first of each month for those on a monthly payment plan. Monthly students are encouraged to keep a credit/debit card on file to be billed automatically the first week of each month. Students who do not wish to keep a card on file are responsible for making payments on time each month. Payments can be made in person, submitted on the desk in the tuition box, or by mail to: Tuzer Dance School, 310 N. Glenville Dr., Richardson, TX, 75081.
Tuition is considered late if not received by the 5th of the month. Late payments are subject to a $10.00 after the 5th and $10.00 every late week thereafter. We do not send out monthly statements unless accounts are delinquent.
Each student’s tuition must be paid in full monthly regardless of attendance (except in cases of medical emergencies and injuries) or holidays. Tuition is not prorated for months that have more or fewer than the usual four weeks. Clients pay a flat rate although the calendar may sometimes give dancers extra classes. This offsets the 3classes missed due to holidays. Students must make up classes in the lower or same level classes within 30 days after the absence.
Students will be automatically enrolled each month unless we receive a written notice of withdrawal thirty days prior to the student no longer attending our studio. There are no refunds for tuition. If ANY classes are taken in a calendar month, all tuition for the entire month is due.
A 10% discount is offered for full school year students if tuition is paid in full by the first week of classes. All returned checks will be subject to a $25 fee. Please make all checks payable to "Tuzer Dance School."
There is a $5% Family Tuition Discount for families when two or more siblings are enrolled. Both April and May’s tuition will be due by April 1.
MAKE-UP CLASSES/TARDINESS
If you miss a class due to illness or family emergency you may CALL THE STUDIO to set up a time to make-up in another class or review missed material with your instructor. Please NOTIFY THE STUDIO as soon as possible if you are going to miss a class. This opens up make-up spaces for other students and ensures the availability of a make-up class for you. Please note that attendance is important to the learning process and you are expected to be in your assigned class each week unless an unavoidable problem arises. Excessive absenteeism may result in your inability to participate in upcoming performances and will inhibit your advancement to the next class level.
In the event of inclement weather, Tuzer Dance School class cancellations follow Richardson Independent School District closings. We will also post cancellations on our voicemail for your convenience. You may schedule make-ups for these missed classes - refunds will not be given.
Dancers should arrive 5 – 10 minutes before class to stretch and prepare. Dancers arriving late will step into the studio and wait by the door until the instructor gives them permission to join the class. If it is too late to join, the dancer will be asked to observe the class, which is also a learning experience.
CLASS PLACEMENT AND ADVANCEMENT
Placement in the appropriate class is important to each student’s skill development and personal growth. For students younger than seven, placement is based on the student’s age as of the first day of class. For students age seven and older, skill level and experience are also considered. Premature advancement to the next level can have a profound and negative impact both on a student’s self-confidence, and on skill acquisition and development of proper technique. The instructor’s placement decisions are final and are always meant to be in the best interest of the student.
PARENT/GUARDIAN RESPONSIBILITIES
All students 10 years old and younger must be escorted to and from the studio by a parent or responsible adult, i.e. they may not be dropped off or picked up in the parking lot.
Parents must not leave their children (preschool parents, please see next paragraph) for more than 10 minutes prior to their class and must return for them no later than 10 minutes after their class ends. These guidelines must be followed for safety reasons.
Parents of Pre-school students must remain with their child until they are taken into the studio. Please be waiting in the lobby as the class is dismissed.
Please note that there is a changing room provided in the studio. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping the restrooms available for all to use by not using them for changing purposes.
It is our experience that both students and teachers work more efficiently together when parents/ visitors are not in the studio. We do schedule an OPEN HOUSE WEEK in January. Please see attached calendar for dates.

DANCER’S INFORMATION
Permission to Leave Class: Dancers should always ask permission to leave the studio while class is in progress, even if ill. To disappear from class without permission is unacceptable. If you must leave class early, quietly catch the teacher’s attention at the end of a combination. Always try to speak with the teacher before class begins to let them know you will have to leave early. This will cause less distraction and not disrupt the flow of class when you leave.
Be Clean: Being respectful to others means wearing clean clothes and clean smelling shoes. Attend to your personal hygiene. Shower and use antiperspirant or deodorant (keep some in your dance bag) before coming to class. Avoid strong perfumes or colognes. Expression of the hands is very important in dance. Please keep them clean, with no fingernail polish or long nails.
Our Manners: Dancers are polite ladies and gentlemen. They should not lean against the wall or barres .Sitting down unless directed to do so is not acceptable; and dancers should never chew gum during class. Rudeness to teachers, and peers, is absolutely unacceptable in ballet, for which you may be dismissed from class or even expelled from the school. Yawning, talking, whispering, or having private giggle sessions with your friends is considered rude behavior. Dress Like a Dancer: Follow the dress code policy. The dress code allows the teacher to see your physical movement and make the proper corrections. Being properly dressed shows the teacher you are serious about your art form. You will feel more confident and dance better when properly dressed for class. Wear proper street clothes as well as proper street shoes when arriving and leaving the studio. Dance shoes should never be worn outside on concrete or asphalt surfaces, as it will ruin them very quickly.
