MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR / INSTRUCTOR
Patricia Machette Tuzer was born in Dallas where she began her training at three years old with Joy and Dale Riley. Her family moved to Richardson at age six and she started her 10-year study with Ann Etgen and Bill Atkinson. She was specially chosen to train with major ballet companies in New York City at age 14 and moved to the city at age 16 to pursue her dream to dance professionally, which she achieved at age 18.
In 1973 during her tenure with Harkness Ballet, dancing principal roles, she met and married fellow company member Tanju Tuzer. Their careers took them across Europe and then back to America where they opened their first ballet school in 1977. In 1985, as their reputation spread and enrollment grew, they designed a new facility in Richardson, where they remain principal teachers. For forty years, students of the school and non-profit company have danced in Tuzer-choreographed versions of classic ballets.
